Miss world 'digs hallmark healthcare
We welcomed a special visitor to Hallmark Healthcare
this month – the reigning Miss World, Unnur Birna Vilhelmsdottier,
of Iceland.
The beauty queen was in Wales to judge the annual Miss Wales
pageant and to raise money for Save the Children.
As part of her Welsh tour, Unnur Birna dug the first sod at Hallmark’s
second new build care home in Cardiff Bay, before travelling to
Carmarthenshire to spend a morning at Cartref Annwyl Fan, which
has recently undergone a major refurbishment.

Unnur Birna was introduced to all the staff and went on to meet
each of the residents individually before enjoying a light lunch
prepared by Jayne Lee – winner of Care Chef of the Year
at Hallmark’s 2006 awards.
90 year old Eunice Davies, a resident at the home, said: “I
have been watching the Miss World contest for more than 50 years,
but have never had the pleasure of meeting one of the winners
before.”
n
Avnish Goyal, managing director of Hallmark Healthcare, said:
“One of Hallmark’s priorities this year is to increase
our association with charities. It was a pleasure to support Save
the Children and it was a delight for us all to meet Miss World.”
As well as the new site in Cardiff visited by Miss World, other
progress in the Hallmark investment programme includes the June
purchase of Cwrt Enfys in Ystradgynlais near Swansea; the topping
out ceremony of Ty Enfys in Cardiff and the purchase of a two-acre
site in Merthyr Tydfil which will be the location of a 120 bed
care home for 2007.
