CHRISTMAS WISH GRANTED FOR CARE HOME RESIDENT
Carers at Greenhill
Manor care home in Merthyr Tydfil celebrated the opening of
their new Young Physically Disabled unit by making the dream of
their first resident come true.
Sean Power, who has Cerebal Palsy, has been a fan of Daniel O’Donnell
since a young boy so when staff saw that he was in concert at
the Cardiff International Arena they arranged for him to not only
go to the concert, but to go backstage and meet Daniel in person.

Home manager, Sue Bennett said: "Sean’s room is like
a shrine to Daniel and he has idolised him since he was a child.
He has pictures and posters all over the walls as well as all
Daniel’s albums and t-shirts with his picture.
"Since meeting Daniel, we can’t wipe the smile of
Sean’s face. He is delighted that he got to meet his idol
and I am so glad that we got to make his Christmas dream come
true.
"When residents arrive at Greenhill Manor we always sit
down with them in order to produce what we call a Person Centre
Plan. The purpose of this is to access an individual’s physical
and care needs, as well as their dreams and aspirations. When

The YPD unit at Greenhill Manor officially opened its doors to
residents on Wednesday 3 December with a visit from the Mayor
Merthyr Tydfil, Councillor Clive Jones.
The specialised unit is tailor made to provide outstanding care
for a variety of disabilities. Whatever the need, care is delivered
with patience, kindness and understanding. The facilities are
designed to support independent living with spacious en suite
bedrooms to allow easy wheelchair use and installation of specialist
equipment, wide corridors, therapy rooms, separate lounges and
dining rooms, separate kitchen, where residents can prepare their
own snacks or refreshments.
