GEMMAS JET OFF
Two young carers from Kirkby will be jetting off on a
holiday of a lifetime to Mauritius next month after winning a
charity raffle run by their employers, Hallmark Healthcare, owners
of Kirkby Manor Care Home.
The two women – Gemma Bowler and Gemma Waddoups (pictured
below) – are both care assistants. Nineteen-year-old Gemma
Bowler, who bought the winning ticket, explains: “Hallmark
Healthcare is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and so
there have been a number of different events and activities for
residents and staff to mark our success.

“One of the main elements was the raffle which raised hundreds
of pounds for our chosen charity, NAPA (National Association for
Providers of Activities for Older People).”
Gemma will be taking her good friend Gemma Waddoups along as
her guest to the five star complex where they will be waited on
by their own personal butler.
Gemma has never visited Mauritius before and is really looking
forward to the break. She said: “The furthest I’ve
been before is Majorca so this is just fantastic. I’ll have
to get shopping so that I look the part too!”
Avnish Goyal, Chairman of Hallmark Healthcare, said: “Our
staff do a fantastic job looking after the people in our care.
This is going to be a wonderful experience for both women and
I hope it will be packed full of special memories.”
