all things bright and BEAUTIFUL…

The great British weather has not stopped us from celebrating the very best of our green-fingered work in the annual Hallmark in Bloom competition.

Goodwins Hall was the overall winner in the Hallmark in Bloom initiative – now in its fourth year – which provides the homes with the opportunity to promote the excellent facilities that their gardens provide for residents and visitors alike.

Manager of the winning care home, Annette White said: “We are delighted to win this year’s Hallmark in Bloom competition. All the staff and residents have made a real effort to make our garden look fantastic and an enjoyable place to spend time relaxing”.

Paul Moran from competition sponsors Bank of Ireland said: “While the prizes reward exceptional achievement, the real beauty of the competition is that by making the most of the gardens, Hallmark enhances the enjoyment that residents derive from spending time outside. In my view, colourful and well planned gardens really contribute to the overall care experience.”

Paul, along with Hallmark’s Chairman, Avnish Goyal undertook a hectic schedule of visits to judge this year’s Hallmark in Bloom competition

He added: “Avnish and I were both extremely impressed with the overall standard, which undoubtedly represents a new level of excellence. Despite difficult weather conditions, many homes have made massive improvements since last year. The results are a tribute to the hard work and planning of the teams.

“It was also gratifying to see examples of more structural planting to deliver year-round colour.  This is definitely the way to go as it allows gardens to evolve over the years and makes maintenance easier.  I understand that examples of best practice will be shared to benefit gardens at all Hallmark care homes.
