LUXURY CARE HOME OPENS WITH FASHION SHOWCASE

October sees the opening of Shire Hall, a new generation of care home, located in the Cardiff Bay area. The home staged an open weekend on October 13 and 14, and welcomed all to experience the high quality facilities. If they wish, visitors can audition for a charity fashion show for the over 50’s to be held at the home in November.

Gaynor George, the Community Care Leader for Shire Hall, has teamed up with Wales’ premier model agency, Vibe Models, to stage the event.

She said: “ At Hallmark, the health and well being of our residents is paramount and there’s no doubt that appearance plays a really important part in how people feel about themselves. Older people care what they look like as much as younger ones, so we have a dedicated hair and beauty salon at Shire Hall.

“Our show will display fashion for the older generation and will raise funds at the same time for Help the Aged. We’re looking for anyone in their 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or even 80’s who’d like to take to our catwalk . This really is designed to be a bit of fun where people can enjoy the experience of being part of a fashion show for a night”

Shire Hall is extremely well specified with spacious en suite rooms, wide corridors, specialist units for dementia care and young physical disability and a cinema. A nautical themed garden is complete with raised fish ponds, a beach hut and parasols, and a mermaid and shell fountain.

Shire Hall is also thought to be the only care home in Wales which features air conditioning in the corridors and foyer and includes a sprinkler system for added safety .
Gaynor hopes that people who call in during the weekend, will have the opportunity to find out everything they’d like to know about the home.

She said: “Our care team will be available to take people around the home and show off the beautiful surroundings. We’re also here to answer everyone’s questions.”
The care home will also be open throughout Sunday for people to call in and take a look around. Visitors who call in on this day will get the opportunity to win a luxury weekend break in the UK.
