Hallmark Healthcare has been recognised
by the Sunday Times as one of the 100 best companies to work for.
Overall we were placed at number 51 in the prestigious list.
We also scored in the top 10 of three key categories: Motivating
the nation; Living the dream; and Most open and honest managers.
Our managing director, Avnish Goyal, believes the company’s
first appearance in the Sunday Times 100 best companies list,
couldn’t have come at a better time.
He said: “Our number of employees will increase significantly
in the next few years. We are investing more than £25m with
a new build development programme for 2005/6, and along with our
strategy of acquiring good quality care homes, our bed capacity
will increase to 5,000 by 2010.
“In the care sector, reputation is everything and that
is why our employees are so important. We want to be the employer
of choice in the sector and that’s why we invest heavily
in a training and development with each individual having their
own long term learning programme.

“Our appearance in the Sunday Times best companies list
is down to the team. It’s been a great effort from all involved
and I’m delighted with the outcome.”
Hallmark Healthcare launched the company in 1997 with its first
care home in south Wales and have grown steadily over the years.
The company’s new homes are exceptional state-of-the-art
facilities offering everything from an in-house cinema to shops
and hairdressing salons.
Avnish believes that the company’s creative approach to
employee relations will have helped Hallmark stand out at the
Sunday Times. He said: “We believe that Hallmark is leading
the way for the future of care and it is important that we keep
our workforce with us.”
For the last five years, Hallmark’s employees have undertaken
a barefoot firewalk with American life coach, Anthony Robbins,
in a bid to empower them both personally and professionally. An
annual hug day at all of the care homes is also an important date
in the calendar and increases bonding between not only staff,
but residents and relatives too.
As part of the judging process, the Sunday Times surveyed 250
members of Hallmark’s employees on a number of factors including
company values, work life balance, career opportunities, pay and
benefits, contribution to the community and atmosphere in the
workplace.
