TUXFORD CELEBRATES
10 YEARS
Tuxford Manor Care Home is celebrating 10 years looking
after the elderly with a series of themed related events throughout
the year.
The home is managed by Linda Sumner and welcomed its first residents
on 11 December 1997. Linda joined the home officially that month
too and has seen it change over the years.
She said: “We have a great team spirit here at Tuxford
and we’re proud of what we’ve achieved, particularly
since becoming a member of the Hallmark Healthcare family. We’re
really looking forward to a year of celebrations and I’m
hoping the local community will get involved too.”

One of those who will play an important part in the 10-year festivities
will be 97 year old Kitty McNabb who has lived in Tuxford Manor
since it opened in 1997.
Linda, Kitty and the Tuxford team already celebrated Red Nose
Day with 10 people dressing in red for the event. Other ideas
that they are planning for the year include:
- April 10 stalls planned for the Easter fete
- May A May Day tea party with a giant cake
in a figure 10
- June The home will nominate 10 people for
Hallmark Awards
- July A summer fete with 10 stalls
- August Tuxford will display 10 hanging baskets
for Hallmark in Bloom
- September Everyone gets 10 hugs for Hallmark
Hug Day
- October A ‘Weakest Link’ evening
with 10 competitors
- November 10 activities for Children in Need
- December 10 celebrations throughout the festive
season
Linda added: “We see ourselves as an important part of
the local community here and so we’d really like local people
to join in our celebrations with us. If anyone wants to get involved
with our 10 year plans, we’d love to hear from them.”
