| Mealtimes
are an essential time in the day for the care home resident. Of
course great attention is paid to good nutrition, but mealtimes
also give the day structure and foster social interaction
Many residents require special diets for medical or religious
reasons. Hallmark catering staff are experienced in catering for
a wide range of therapeutic and cultural needs. For example:
- Dementia – may require finger foods
or soft/pureed diets;
- Diabetics – require a varied healthy
diet, rich in fruit, vegetables and starchy carbohydrate but
low in sugar and saturated fat;
- High Energy Needs – underweight residents
may need fortified, high calorie, high protein foods that are
not too filling.
- Food Allergies and Intolerances – require
diets with the problem food or ingredient omitted. Changes to
preparation methods may be required;
- Halal, Kosher and Other Religious Diets –
require that certain foods be omitted and ingredients be sourced
and prepared in a specific way.
Hallmark catering teams take each individual’s needs very
seriously and ensure that their likes and dislikes are taken into
account along with their nutritional needs.
Eating in a Hallmark care home allows residents to enjoy old
favourites or explore newer taste preferences. Depending on the
tastes of their residents, many homes add variety by offering
culinary events such as Italian or Indian evenings. And of course
home baked cakes are a welcome treat to accompany afternoon tea.
