Great
facilities are only one component of great care. By far the most
important factor is the personal care provided by our carers and
nursing staff, every minute, day and month of the year.
That’s why we invest so heavily in training which supports
individuals in Hallmark nursing and residential care homes, to
enhance their skills:
- On joining Hallmark Healthcare, all staff attend comprehensive
induction training. This provides them with
the knowledge of their new working environment and the residents
they will be caring for
- Every one of our employees has an individual learning
programme to develop both professional and interpersonal
skills
- All qualified staff are required to evidence their ongoing
professional development. Our requirement is that such
personnel must attend 5 days training over 3 years to maintain
their qualifications
- At Hallmark Healthcare we require 75% of all non-qualified
staff to have completed NVQ level 2 training,
compared with the 50% statutory requirement. Our policy includes
all categories of personnel, including carers, maintenance,
domestics, laundry and kitchen workers
- Where required, special training in dementia care
is provided using ‘Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow’ –
a detailed discussion and video package provided by the Alzheimer’s
Society and accredited following an examination and certificated
by the Society.
- Deputy Managers are encouraged and supported to achieve Registered
Manager status and NVQ level 4
- A dedicated Head of Quality is employed
to support staff in meeting the training requirements.
- Innovative on-line training is provided to
all staff in Hallmark nursing and residential care homes.
Hallmark staff are acknowledged for their commitment to the residents
in their care by frequently being awarded national and regional
care awards. Hallmark Healthcare has been recognised by The Sunday
Times as a first class company to work for in 2006, 2007, 2008
and 2009 – we are very proud of this recognition as the
awards reflect the views of our employees. Achievement of the
Investors in People accreditation underlines our commitment to
develop excellence among our team. Hallmark Healthcare also received
the Pinders Healthcare Award for Best Designed Care Home in 2006
as well as being short-listed in 2008 and 2010.
