The Hallmark
Healthcare team scooped a trio of wins at the Wales Care Awards
this November in Cardiff.
Beatrix Coetzee, a Registered General Nurse at Greenhill Manor
in Merthyr Tydfil, was presented with a gold award for Excellence
in Dementia Care and Mental Health after beating off competition
from around the country to scoop the coveted prize.
Her colleague, Dipawatie Chawbnaraine, also known as Dip, from
Bryn Celyn care home in Maesteg, was also presented with a silver
award in the Nurse of the Year category.
Sonia Morgan, the cook from Bryn Celyn, was also awarded highly
commended in the Catering in Care category.
The presentations were made by the Welsh Assembly Government
Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services, Gwenda Thomas,
in front of a sell out crowd of 500 people.
Beatrix, originally from South Africa, was shortlisted for the
award because since arriving at Greenhill Manor earlier this year,
her professionalism and dedication has made a huge impression
on residents and other members of staff at the care home.
Marie Regan, manager of the general nursing unit at Greenhill
Manor said: "Beatrix is an outstanding member of staff at
Greenhill and everyone at Hallmark Healthcare is extremely proud
of her. She has a fantastic rapport with the residents, has excellent
clinical skills, is extremely organised and is a fast learner."
Beatrix said: "I am very honoured to receive such a prestigious
award. To be recognised by Care Forum Wales for my work at Greenhill
Manor is an incredible achievement for me and I feel very privileged."
The Care Forum Wales award is the second accolade Dip has scooped
this year after being named nurse of the year by her employers,
Hallmark Healthcare, at the company’s own awards ceremony
in September.
Originally from Guyana, Dip is described as 'the epitome of all
that the word nurse implies’ by the home manager of Bryn
Celyn, Carol Baker.
Avnish Goyal, managing director of Hallmark Healthcare, said:
"It is a real pleasure to be in the company of such achievers
at the Wales Care Awards. To see members of our own team do so
well on such an important evening is immensely rewarding. I am
very proud of them all."
